Riverwalk Carp

Thought I would share this pic also. When nothing else is biting at good old Riverwalk, there is always carp. This guy took me about 5 minutes to land after runing me halfway across the lake. To me pound for pound nothing beats a good carp fight. I think it's one of the best fighting fish we have in Kern county, pound for pound. Yes! Even over our beloved stripers.

Well once again I was in the east lake fishing for carp. When all of a sudden I thought I had the biggest fish in Riverwalk on my line. i was using 6 pound test line on a 6 foot uglystick. This guy took me 20 minutes to bring in and i cleaned up half of the weeds in the lake. My guess he is 22 to 24 inches long and about 18 to 20 pounds.

Well most of the guys I know will tell you, this fish was a fluke. I was fishing on the bank near the bridge for carp. This guy was hungry, he wasted no time  eatting up all my bait.

Where have they all gone?

Caught last year around summer, I have not had one as big. I have caught a 5 pounder in the back side of the west lake and alot of 2 and 3 pounders.

Tule river is hot

I had the pleasure of fishing the Tule river near Wishon over the labor day weekend and couldnt have been more suprised how much it produced.  It seemed like every 3rd cast or so with a salmon egg i was pulling out a good sized planter,  biggest being around 3 lbs.  There was a small bridge on the way to coy flat that was off the hook!  If given the chance i would highly suggest takeing the car ride, its well worth it.  I just ask that u keep only what you need cause i dont know how often they plant at that location.
