Here is a bass from my 6/10/09 lunch hour fishing at River Walk Park. Caught a couple this size and slightly larger. You can see the tip of my thumb for scale. There are lots of these tiny bass to be caught, but occasionally you will see the big ones. On that note I went back in the evening, where to say the least the action was down, but I did see a guy in the back pond (near the ampitheater) land a bass that had to be better than a five pounder.

Nothing too exciting, but I just thought I'd add some content to the site. This little bluegill was caught at River walk park on 6/10/09 around noon actually on crappie nibbles and small silver hooks. I caught four or five of these and a couple of little bass (very little bass) during my lunch hour.

I have been fishing at Lake Isabella, Hart Park, River Walk Park, the Aquaduct, and the Kern river. Oh and I almost forgot Truxtun Lake. I have caught multiple fish at every location for the last couple of weeks (5/30/09 - 6/10/09). The Crappie at Lake isabella have been out of control. Not too many huge ones, but I caught limits of 25 keepers on three trips last week. Red and white, and Chartreuse crappie jigs seemed to be the hottest, though they were biting almost everything. Sorry for a lack of Pictures.
Fish Planting Criteria

Catchable trout shall not be stocked in streams when water temperatures reach 75°F and it appears that such temperatures will continue to occur regularly, or when stream flows drop below 10 cfs. The exception is that suitable streams with flows between 2 and 10 cfs may be planted if water temperatures do not exceed 70°F and other conditions are satisfactory. Stocking shall be discontinued if conditions are unsuitable because of shallow water, lack of pools, growth of algae, poor water quality, or other reasons

LAKE ISABELLA: Trout action is very good after DFG trout plants last week and the week before. Most fish around a pound and showing on floating baits or inflated nightcrawlers. Largemouth bass, crappie and catfish all still slow, but warming weather could turn that around overnight. Upcoming events: Trout derby set for April 4-6. There will be 1,000 tagged fish worth cash, including a $20,000 fish and 10 fish at $10,000 each. Applications are available at kernrivervalley.com.
