July. 2nd Bakersfield, Lake Isabella, Kern River Fish, Report
Submitted by Dave on Mon, 07/06/2009 - 07:00LAKE ISABELLA: The crappie bite is still pretty good for boat and float tube anglers fishing in the South Fork Arm of the lake, but it takes some work to get a limit now and most of the fish are under a pound. The best bite is still on small jigs and minnows. The bass bite has improved with a fair to good bite on plastics, minnows, and cranks. Trout action is still very good, with a lot of limits reported on spinners and Power Bait, with fish up to 2 pounds and some bigger.

Friday and Saturday we caught lots of Crappie. 1 lb plus are showing up more regularily. Caught a handful of Catfish on Night Crawlers. My buddy even landed a 5.25 lb Bass at about 3:00 AM on sunday on a crawler while reeling in to check his bait, I guess he still had some on. I'll try to find some pictures. Good Luck all.

Good Day of Fishing

The Lake Isabella crappie bite is still going strong, and the fish have moved shallow again in the South Fork arm.
